This is a practice Lower House ballot using sample candidates. It is not an official ballot paper.
NUMBER 1 REALLY MATTERS
Your Number 1 is the person you most want to represent you. Here’s a clue - Scott Watson!
When Lower House votes are first counted, they are sorted according to where each voter has put 1.
If nobody has more than 50% of the vote, the candidate with the fewest votes is excluded and those ballot papers move to the next available preference. The process continues until one candidate has a majority (more than 50%).
So if Scott Watson is your first choice, put me Number 1.
If I'm not your first choice, I'd still be very happy to be your Number 2. 🙂.
Remember, the major parties will tell you how to vote. That is why they give you all that paper when you vote. They do this to cancel out threats, including Independents. I will not tell you where to place you preferences, that is up to you.
THE RULES ARE SIMPLE
1. Put 1 beside your first choice, see hint above!
2. Number every other box in the order you prefer them.
3. Use each number once.
That's it.
And remember, your Number 2 does not weaken your Number 1.
While your Number 1 candidate remains in the count, your vote stays with them.
